Notify me when this launchesPlanned Features
- Capture URLs, text, files, PDFs, images, supported feeds, and explicit direct MP4/WebM files from Android sharing or direct entry
- Organize prepared content into Offline Packs for travel, commuting, work, study, emergencies, and other user-defined situations
- Read normalized saved web content in an offline Reader and retain supported native files for direct offline access
- Use Smart Scope to expand a capture into bounded nearby pages, coherent sections, documentation trees, feeds, or other supported collections with explicit scope controls
- Track offline readiness separately from freshness so stale-but-available content is not incorrectly treated as missing
- Automatically prepare selected content on unmetered connectivity within user-configured battery and storage constraints
- Search the local library with full-text search and manage storage with explicit item deletion and whole-library deletion controls
- Download explicit public progressive MP4/WebM files up to the supported bounded size without attempting streaming-site extraction, DRM bypass, paywall bypass, or authenticated-session replay
- Keep core operation local-first with no FetchAhead account or developer-operated cloud service required
- Use optional one-time Pro access through Google Play Billing for scale and automation features; Pro does not gate access to content already downloaded
- Current repository state is a signed 1.0.0 release candidate, but production release is still blocked on external Play Console, billing-tester, device-acceptance, privacy-policy, and hosted-CI gates
Frequently Asked Questions
What problem does FetchAhead solve?
FetchAhead helps you prepare a set of useful internet content before connectivity becomes weak or disappears. It focuses on organized offline preparation and clear readiness rather than acting as a generic download manager.
What can FetchAhead save?
The current release candidate supports pages, shared text and URLs, files, PDFs, images, RSS/Atom feeds, supported Smart Scope collections, and explicit direct progressive MP4/WebM files within the documented limits.
Does FetchAhead make every website work offline?
No. Modern JavaScript-heavy, authenticated, streaming, paywalled, or otherwise restricted sites can degrade to snapshot or live-only behavior rather than being falsely reported as fully captured.
Does FetchAhead require an account or cloud service?
No. Core operation is local-first and does not require a FetchAhead account or developer-operated cloud backend.
Can FetchAhead download streaming-site videos?
No. The implemented video feature is intentionally limited to explicit public progressive MP4/WebM files within the supported size boundary. It does not discover media from pages, parse HLS or DASH playlists, bypass DRM or paywalls, or replay authenticated sessions.
Is FetchAhead available on Google Play now?
Not yet. The repository is at a signed 1.0.0 release-candidate stage, but production qualification still depends on external Play Console, billing-tester, physical-device, privacy-policy, and hosted-CI gates, so this site intentionally marks it coming soon.
