Frequently Asked Questions

What does SoundLatch do?

SoundLatch plays a user-started audio stream during otherwise quiet periods. Some compatible audio devices interpret that stream as continued use and delay entering standby, which can reduce delayed wake-up or clipped audio after silence.

Can SoundLatch force a speaker to stay connected or choose the final audio output?

No. Android does not provide a universal way for an app to force pairing, reconnect hardware, override device firmware, or prove the final physical audio sink. SoundLatch shows the expected Android-reported output and asks you to confirm where ordinary audio is playing.

Is the signal always inaudible?

No. Digital Silence is silent, while the advanced low-level signal modes are designed for compatibility testing but are not guaranteed to be inaudible on every device, volume level, amplifier, or listening environment.

Does SoundLatch start playback automatically?

No. Playback starts only after an explicit user action. Reboots, reminders, route changes, charging events, and quiet-hour boundaries never start or resume audio automatically.

Does SoundLatch include a subscription?

No. SoundLatch has a free tier with guided compatibility testing and offers an optional one-time lifetime Pro purchase through Google Play. There is no recurring subscription.

Does SoundLatch collect or upload my profiles and session history?

SoundLatch stores profiles, compatibility results, settings, reminders, and bounded session history locally. It has no SoundLatch account, advertising, first-party analytics, crash-reporting backend, or developer-operated server.
