Detailed Official Policy

Full technical and legal disclosure for DbGuard.

**Effective Date:** April 9, 2026 ## 1. Introduction DbGuard ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use the DbGuard application (the "App") on your Wear OS device. The primary purpose of DbGuard is to monitor your surrounding environmental noise levels and provide real-time decibel measurements to help protect your hearing. ## 2. Information We Collect and How We Use It ### Microphone Access and Audio Data (RECORD_AUDIO Permission) To provide real-time noise monitoring, DbGuard requires access to your device's microphone (the RECORD_AUDIO permission). **We want to be exceptionally clear about how this data is handled:** * **Real-time Local Processing Only:** The microphone is strictly used for real-time local decibel calculation. * **No Storage of Audio:** Audio buffers are processed in memory to calculate sound levels (dB) and are immediately discarded. * **No Transmission or Sharing:** We do not record, store, transmit, or share any raw audio data, voice recordings, or conversations. * **Numeric Data Only:** Only the aggregated, numerical decibel values (e.g., "85 dB") are retained locally on your device to provide historical context and safety warnings. This numeric data never leaves your device unless explicitly exported by you. ### Other Local Data We may store your preferences and numerical decibel history locally on your device using Android DataStore. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. ## 3. Data Sharing and Disclosure Because we do not collect or transmit personal information or raw audio data to external servers, we do not share your personal data with third parties. ## 4. Security The security of your data is important to us. By designing the App to process audio data solely in memory and discard it immediately, we minimize the risk of unauthorized access to sensitive audio information. All numerical data is stored locally using standard Android security mechanisms. ## 5. Children's Privacy Our App does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us. ## 6. Changes to This Privacy Policy We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. ## 7. Contact Us If you have any questions or suggestions about our Privacy Policy, use the contact details listed on the app's Google Play listing.
