# DriftCue: Posture Reminder Privacy Policy Last updated: September 24, 2026 ## Overview DriftCue is an Android posture and device-use awareness app developed by Quazmoz. The pending initial Google Play release is designed to operate offline and process posture-related signals on the device. DriftCue does not require an account and does not operate a DriftCue cloud backend. ## Phone Angle Guard Phone Angle Guard uses Android motion/orientation signals, such as rotation-vector or gravity-derived orientation, to compare the phone's current viewing orientation with a baseline you calibrate. These sensor signals are processed locally. DriftCue does not store a continuous raw stream of high-frequency orientation or gyroscope samples. When you explicitly start monitoring, DriftCue uses a user-started foreground service so Android can continue the active Phone Angle Guard session while another app is in the foreground. The ongoing notification provides visible control of that session. ## Desk Camera Desk Camera requires camera permission and runs only during a user-visible camera session that you start. Camera frames are processed on-device to estimate pose landmarks for general posture awareness. The pending initial release uses the bundled on-device ML Kit pose-detection library for this processing. Normal Desk Camera monitoring does not intentionally save photos or video and does not upload camera frames to Quazmoz or a developer-operated server. While Desk Camera is open, DriftCue suppresses the Activity preview used by Android Recents. On Android 11–12, where a Recents-only capture control is unavailable, DriftCue uses secure-window protection while the camera Activity is visible. This is an additional privacy safeguard and does not change the on-device pose-processing model. ## Data stored on your device DriftCue may store the following app-owned data locally: - settings and cue preferences; - compact Phone Angle calibration summaries; - Desk Camera calibration/settings needed for the local feature; - completed monitoring-session summaries; - confirmed phone-low drift-event summaries, including whether a local cue was delivered and whether recovery was later confirmed; - a low-frequency derived recovery checkpoint during an active Phone Angle session so an interrupted session can be represented conservatively after process loss. Recovery checkpoints contain bounded derived state and timing/provenance information. They do not contain continuous raw sensor samples or continuous angle history. ## Retention and deletion Completed session and event history uses a 90-day retention threshold. Expired completed rows are removed when DriftCue next performs the relevant local history maintenance. You can clear DriftCue history from the app. Clearing Android app storage or uninstalling DriftCue removes app-owned local data on that device. DriftCue disables Android application backup in the pending initial release. The release artifact also explicitly excludes app-owned files, databases, preferences, and their device-protected equivalents from both cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. ## Network, accounts, analytics, and advertising The pending initial production release removes the Android INTERNET permission. It does not include a DriftCue account system, advertising SDK, product-analytics SDK, third-party crash-reporting SDK, cloud posture-processing service, or developer-operated backend. Google Play and Android may process standard information required for distribution, installation, updates, security, permissions, foreground-service operation, and other platform functions under Google's policies. ## Experimental earbud head tracking The DriftCue source repository contains an experimental earbud/head-tracking lab used for development and hardware evaluation. That experimental activity and foreground service are removed from the pending initial production release manifest. They are therefore not part of the data flow described for the pending public release. If a future public release adds this experiment or another headset feature, this policy will be updated before that functionality is represented as shipped. ## Permissions The pending initial release requests permissions needed for its shipped features, including camera access for Desk Camera, notifications, vibration, and foreground-service operation. Camera access is optional for Phone Angle Guard. Phone Angle Guard remains usable without camera hardware. ## Health and wellness notice DriftCue supports general wellness and posture-awareness habits. It is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent a disease, injury, or medical condition. ## Children DriftCue is a general wellness utility and is not directed to children through a hosted account or cloud service. ## Changes to this policy This policy will be updated before a future release materially changes data collection, storage, retention, networking, cloud processing, analytics, advertising, account functionality, permissions, or third-party service behavior. ## Contact For privacy questions, contact Quazmoz@vivaldi.net.
