# WristPet Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 12, 2026
WristPet is a local-first habit tracker for Android phones and Wear OS watches. It helps users complete daily goals, care for a tiny virtual pet, earn XP and coins, build streaks, and customize the pet experience.
This policy describes the V1 implementation. If future versions add analytics, crash reporting, cloud sync, ads, billing, accounts, backend services, or third-party SDK behavior, this policy and the Google Play Data Safety form must be updated before release.
## Summary
WristPet stores habit, pet, progress, preference, tile/complication, and sync data locally on the user's devices. The developer does not collect, receive, sell, or share personal data from V1 app usage.
WristPet does not require an account, does not provide a public profile or social feed, does not show ads, and does not use a custom backend in V1.
## Data stored on your devices
WristPet may store the following data locally:
- Habit names and habit metadata.
- Habit completion history.
- Pet name, selected pet, pet state, mood, level, coins, XP, habitat, and cosmetic selections.
- Progress and streak information.
- App preferences such as onboarding status, theme choice, haptic setting, and local feature state.
- Wear OS sync queue events used to reconcile watch completions with the phone.
- Local cached watch state for tiles and complications.
This data is used only to provide habit tracking, pet progression, offline use, Wear OS tile/complication display, and phone/watch sync functionality.
Habit names are user-entered and can be personal. WristPet treats them as private local data.
## Data collection
The current V1 implementation does not collect or transmit personal data to the developer.
Current V1 app code does not use:
- Account registration or login.
- Email address collection.
- Precise location collection.
- Contacts access.
- Photos, videos, audio, or file collection.
- Advertising identifiers.
- Analytics SDKs.
- Crash-reporting SDKs.
- Third-party backend services.
- Ads.
- Health Connect, Google Fit, medical records, or body-sensor data.
## Phone and watch sync
The phone and Wear OS app may exchange WristPet app data with each other through Google Play services Wear OS Data Layer APIs. This is device-to-device app sync for WristPet functionality, not developer collection and not third-party advertising or analytics sharing.
Sync data may include active habits, completion events, pet summary state, preferences, and small local status payloads needed to keep the phone and watch consistent.
## Permissions and platform services
The Wear OS app may use normal Android permissions such as vibration for positive haptic rewards and wake behavior needed by watch features such as tiles, complications, and reliable watch operation.
WristPet does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, file/photo, health, body sensor, or advertising ID permissions in V1.
Google Play services may process device-to-device Wear OS Data Layer communication according to Google's own terms and policies.
## Network, encryption, and third-party services
WristPet currently uses Google Play services Wear OS Data Layer APIs for phone/watch communication. No custom WristPet backend service is used in V1.
If a future version adds cloud sync, a backend, analytics, crash reporting, remote config, Play Billing, or other services, this policy and the Google Play Data Safety form must be updated to describe the actual data handled by those services.
## Backups and device transfer
WristPet disables Android backup and data extraction for local habit, pet, sync, and preference data. This is intended to keep local-first habit data from being copied through Android cloud backup or device-transfer flows unless a future explicit sync/export feature is implemented.
## User control and data deletion
WristPet provides an in-app Settings -> Delete app data action that permanently removes locally stored data, including habits, completion history, pet state, progress/streaks, the Wear OS sync queue, and preferences. The app then returns to its clean first-run state.
Users can also delete local WristPet data by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage in Android system settings.
Because data is local-first with no WristPet backend, deletion is immediate and irreversible; there is no copy held on a WristPet server to remove.
## Children and sensitive use
WristPet is a general habit tracking app. It does not make medical, diagnostic, treatment, mental-health, financial, or professional advice claims.
Before any release targeted at children, the full product, metadata, privacy policy, SDKs, ads status, and data practices must be reviewed for child-directed requirements.
## Monetization
V1 is planned as a free release with no in-app purchases, no ads, no subscription, and no Pro tier.
A one-time Pro unlock is documented as a future plan only. If Play Billing is ever implemented, this policy will be updated to disclose Play Billing behavior, purchase verification, entitlement storage, and data handled by Google Play.
## Changes
This policy may be updated when WristPet features or privacy practices change. Material changes should be reflected in the app listing or linked privacy policy page.
